On June 2, 2022, sex workers of Los Angeles are staging a day of gathering to mark the

47th International Whores’ Day (IWD)

protests taking place globally.

We honor and celebrate the resilience of the Los Angeles sex working communities who continuously care for and provide mutual aid to one another.

COLLECTIVE RAGE

We remain outraged about SESTA/FOSTA, the Internet censorship bills that impact women, queer, trans, and marginalized people through silencing and violence, while allowing the perpetrators of exploitation to continue their abuse and remain undetectable to legal agencies.

We are calling for the decriminalization of sex work, decriminalization of survival, and protection of labor conditions. Sex Worker Rights are Human Rights.

IWD HISTORY

IWD is an event that started in Lyon, France in 1975 when over 100 sex workers protested the violence and police brutality targeting their livelihood. In 2020, with the Internet now a site of displacement and resistance, we are protesting the state violence, racism, and stigma-based discrimination that still targets our working communities.

RESOURCES

We are collecting a growing archive of sex worker mutual aid resources from all over the US and Internationally. This archive includes organizations for long-term general support and short-term aid.
